This Legend of Khensu Nefer-Hetep Reader’s Theater Script of Egyptian Mythology explores the the fifteenth year of Rameses II’s reign. In which, an envoy from Bekhten arrives bearing a desperate plea: the Princess of Bekhten is possessed by a demon. Moved by compassion, Rameses II commissions his advisors and priests to summon the healing power of the moon‐god Khensu Nefer‐Hetep. In a solemn ritual at the Temple of Khensu, the high priest transfers the sacred “sa of life” from Khensu Nefer‐Hetep to his deputy statue, Khensu Pa-ari-sekher. Empowered, the deputy is loaded onto a ceremonial boat and sent down the Nile toward Bekhten. Upon arrival, amid lavish gifts and a carefully prepared shrine, the divine envoy exorcises the evil spirit from the afflicted princess. The miracle restores her health and renews hope among the people, reaffirming the covenant between mortal kings and the gods.
