This Horus and Set & The Winged Disk Reader’s Theater Script of Egyptian Mythology explores two legendary episodes of ancient Egyptian lore. First, Horus battles his uncle Set for the throne of Egypt, avenging Osiris and asserting rightful rule. Though fierce transformations see Horus as a golden hawk and Set as both hippopotamus and crocodile, Horus’s resolve eventually forces Set to yield. Afterward, another menace arises: crocodile-fiends and rebels threaten Ra’s solar barque. Horus assumes the guise of the Winged Disk, descending upon his enemies from above while his loyal blacksmith-warriors secure victory on the waters. Triumphant, Horus’s winged sun-disk is enshrined in every temple, symbolizing his guardianship of Ra’s dominion and the inevitable triumph of cosmic order.
