This Nelson Mandala Historical Figure Readers Theater Script engages students in an interactive narrative instead of reading a dry history textbook.

Script Summary:

This script details how Europeans arrived in South Africa, took power, and created laws that favored white people, later forming strict apartheid rules. Abigail and Benjamin learn how this hurt Black Africans, who faced segregation, no voting rights, and forced living areas. Nelson Mandela joined the ANC to fight these laws, starting peacefully, and later turning to limited sabotage when peaceful ways failed. He was imprisoned for 27 years, writing letters to his daughters and to leaders like Hendrik Verwoerd, demanding fairness. Over time, world pressure and local protests forced talks. Mandela’s release led to free elections in 1994, making him President. He guided South Africa toward forgiveness, truth, and democracy. His life shows that patience, courage, and working together can end injustice.
