Part 1 (Act 1 - Scene 1 to Scene 8): Thebes begs for relief from the plague. Oedipus vows to uncover and punish Laius’s killer and calls for Teiresias.
Part 2 (Act 1 - Scene 9 to Scene 24): Teiresias accuses Oedipus; Oedipus suspects a plot. Creon argues for proof, and Jocasta tries to stop the fight from tearing the city apart.
Part 3 (Act 1 - Scene 25 to Scene 28): Jocasta’s “crossroads” detail shakes Oedipus. Corinthian news briefly comforts him, then reveals adoption and deepens the mystery.
Part 4 (Act 1 - Scene 29 to Scene 37): The Herdsman is forced to speak, and the truth locks into place. Jocasta flees inside; Oedipus refuses to stop searching.
