This activity helps improves reading fluency, speed, accuracy, and expression while developing listening and speaking skills as students actively practice expressive voice acting.
Script Summary:
A Miller proudly claims his daughter can spin straw into gold. The King, eager for gold, locks her in rooms of straw. A small man named Rumpelstiltskin magically spins gold for her, each time demanding a reward: her necklace, her ring, and finally her future child. She becomes Queen, forgetting the bargain until Rumpelstiltskin returns when her baby is born. He gives her three days to guess his name or lose the child. On the third day, a Messenger finds him dancing in the forest, saying his name is Rumpelstiltskin. The Queen triumphs by saying “Rumpelstiltskin,” he vanishes in anger, and her baby is safe.
