The Goose Girl Readers Theater Script engages students in an interactive story instead of reading a third person narrative. This activity helps improves reading fluency, speed, accuracy, and expression while developing listening and speaking skills as students actively practice expressive voice acting.

Script Summary:

The story is about a Princess traveling to marry a Prince in a distant kingdom. Her Waiting-Maid grows cruel, making the Princess swap clothes and horses. The Maid pretends to be the bride, while the true Princess is forced to care for geese. She loses her magic lock of hair, so she can’t defend herself. Falada, the talking horse, is killed on the Maid’s orders but still helps warn about the trick. The King finds out the truth when he sees the Princess’s sorrowful routine and hears Falada speak. At a grand feast, the false bride is exposed and punished. The Princess becomes the real bride to the Prince, Falada is magically restored, and they all live happily in the kingdom with honesty and kindness.
