Differentiated Reader's Theater Script Bundle (6)
This script includes 6 acts:
Act 1: Christmas Eve and The Gifts
Marie and Fritz eagerly await Christmas in their cozy home. They wonder what special gifts their Godfather Drosselmeier, a skilled toymaker, has made for them. When the doors to the Christmas room open, they find a sparkling tree adorned with candles, golden apples, and silver nuts. Under the tree are wonderful presents, including a magical castle from Drosselmeier. Though fascinated at first, they soon prefer their other toys, and the family enjoys a joyful evening together.
Act 2: The Nutcracker's Battle
After the celebration, Marie discovers the Nutcracker under the tree. Fascinated by the funny little man who can crack nuts, she takes special care of him, especially after Fritz accidentally damages him. That night, as everyone sleeps, Marie witnesses the Nutcracker and her toys come to life to battle the evil Mouse King and his army. When the Nutcracker is in danger, Marie bravely throws her slipper at the Mouse King, helping secure victory. Exhausted, she wonders if it was all a dream.
Act 3: The Battle and the Aftermath
The Nutcracker leads his toy soldiers against the Mouse King's forces in a fierce battle. Despite their bravery, the toys begin to lose ground. Seeing the Nutcracker in peril, Marie decides to help. She throws her slipper at the Mouse King, turning the tide of the battle. The mice retreat, but Marie faints from the excitement. She wakes up in her bed the next morning, unsure if the events were real or a dream, but remains concerned for the Nutcracker's safety.
Act 4: The Tale of the Hard Nut
Curious about the Nutcracker's appearance, Marie asks Godfather Drosselmeier for the story behind it. He tells the tale of Princess Pirlipat, who was cursed by the Mouse Queen, Frau Mouserink, and transformed into an ugly figure. Only the magical Crackatook Nut, cracked by a young man who had never worn boots, could break the curse. Drosselmeier's nephew fulfills the conditions but is cursed by the Mouse Queen's son, becoming the Nutcracker. The princess rejects him, but there is hope that someone else can break his curse.
Act 5: Victory and the Journey to the Kingdom of Dolls
The Mouse King returns, threatening to harm the Nutcracker unless Marie gives up her sweets and toys. Determined to save him, Marie sacrifices her favorite treats and dolls. Seeking further help, she enlists Fritz to provide the Nutcracker with a sword. That night, the Nutcracker defeats the Mouse King and presents Marie with his seven crowns. Grateful, he invites her to visit his kingdom. Excited, Marie accepts, and they begin a magical journey together.
Act 6: The Kingdom of Dolls and the Return to Reality
Marie and the Nutcracker travel to a wondrous land filled with sweets and magic. They sail across the Lake of Roses, visit Jellygrove where trees are made of candy, and explore the bustling capital city, Jamburg. They arrive at the magnificent Marzipan Castle and meet the Nutcracker's sisters, the princesses. After a delightful feast, Marie grows sleepy. She wakes up at home, unsure if it was all a dream, but finds the tiny crowns given to her by the Nutcracker, suggesting her adventure was real.
