Mega Greek Mythology Bundle | Reader's Theater Scripts (30)

This bundle includes 30 Readers Theater Scripts that explore 50 Famous Gods, Demigods and Mortals of Greek Mythology. These scripts and worksheets engage students in an interactive narrative instead of reading the original story and helps develop listening and speaking skills as students practice expressive voice acting.

Teaching Tips for Using these Scripts:

• The number of characters in each script varies from 15~29 characters.
• For More Students: Main character can be read by multiple students.
• For Less Students: Minor characters can be read by just one student.
• The lengths vary from 2000 ~ 4300 words
• The scripts should take about 45~50 min each
• Each script is geared towards grades 8~12 but may be suitable for grades 6~7 depending on your classroom's reading level.

What Scripts are Included?

5 Titan-Focused Scripts:

Cronus & Oceanus: Cronus overthrows Uranus, eats his Olympian children (Zeus, Poseidon, Hera), but Zeus rises to cast him into Tartarus. Oceanus stays neutral.

Rhea & Tethys: Rhea tricks Cronus to save Zeus, aiding the Titanomachy. Tethys shelters Hera and young gods.

Prometheus & Atlas: Prometheus defies Zeus with fire for humans, punished eternally. Atlas bears the sky after losing to Zeus.

Hyperion & Theia: Hyperion fathers Helios, Selene, and Eos, rebelling against Uranus. Theia foresees Zeus’s rise.

Coeus & Phoebe: Coeus falls to Zeus in Tartarus. Phoebe’s lineage births Apollo and Artemis via Leto.  

10 Olympian-Focused Scripts:

Zeus: Zeus, swallowed by Cronus, overthrows Titans with thunderbolts, ruling Olympus.

Poseidon: Poseidon commands seas and earthquakes, rivaling Zeus’s power.

Hera: Hera, Zeus’s queen, guards marriage, punishing his lovers.

Athena: Athena, born from Zeus, guides war and wisdom, favoring Athens.

Apollo: Apollo, sun god, prophesies and heals, enchanting with music.

Artemis: Artemis, moon goddess, hunts and protects childbirth, free in the wild.

Hermes: Hermes, Zeus’s messenger, masters trickery and travel.

Thanatos & Hypnos: Thanatos reaps souls gently for Hades; Hypnos, his twin, lulls mortals with sleep, easing Greece into rest under Nyx’s shadow.

Charon & The Erinyes: Charon ferries the dead across the Styx for Hades; the Erinyes (Alecto, Megaera, Tisiphone) punish oath-breakers, enforcing chthonic law.

Nyx & Erebus: Nyx cloaks Zeus’s world in night; Erebus, her consort, births Hypnos and Thanatos, their darkness predating Olympus.

Hecate & Melinoë: Hecate wields necromancy under Hades; Melinoë, Persephone’s daughter, haunts dreams, binding Greece to ghostly dread.

Heracles: Heracles, Zeus’s son, endures Hera’s curse through labors, ascending to Olympus.

Perseus, Bellerophon & Orpheus: Perseus slays Medusa; Bellerophon rides Pegasus; Orpheus charms Hades.

Theseus & Jason: Theseus kills the Minotaur; Jason seeks the Fleece, navigating divine trials.

Achilles & Aeneas: Achilles razes Troy; Aeneas flees to found Rome.
